HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We are back at the gallery and are looking forward to a stellar 2022. After the last couple of years, we cannot wait to have visitors to Alice Springs again and have the opportunity to showcase the amazing art and artists of our region.
The studio is usually pretty quiet over the summer months and this year is no different. During these quiet months, we will be working with a smaller family of artists but will be open Monday to Saturday as per usual. There are plenty of spectacular artworks on display and in our stockroom. Here is a selection of art especially curated by the team at Yubu Napa to show you this month.
DELORES FURBER NAPALTJARRI
It has been couple of years since we have worked with this talented artist from Santa Teresa. Delores paints delicate depictions of stories from her country in the style of the well known Keringke Artists of Santa Teresa. Her latest works are titled Sturt Desert Pea and have been very popular at our gallery.

WALALA TJAPALTJARRI
The story of Walala and his family made headlines worldwide back in the mid 1980’s when they first came into contact with non indigenous settlers near Kintore, to the west of Alice Springs. The story can be read HERE

DEBBIE BROWN NAPALTJARRI
Rows of delicate dots work together to depict the sand hills of Debbie’s home country near Yuendumu, to the North west of Alice Springs.
These “Tali” are an important part of the landscape around the Central Desert Region.
The sand dunes are home to an abundance of animal and plant life and the knowledge of which Tali are home to these important food sources is passed down from the women to their children and grandchildren.
