Vale, Barbara Weir. We were saddened to hear of the passing of Barbara Weir earlier this year. Barbara was instrumental in the establishing of Yubu Napa Art Gallery, encouraging us to start our studio when Ric worked at a less than ethical studio from 2011. When Ric told Barbara and a few other artists that he was going to quit the job, they told him that if he could put up with working there for a little longer to build relationships with artists and learn more about the industry, that the artists would follow and paint with the new studio. We wouldn’t be here without Barbara and a few other artists, and for this we will always be thankful, as Barbara really did support us and spread the word about the budding new studio in Alice Springs.
She is missed by so many in our community, but her memory will live on in all of our hearts. The photo above is Barbara trying a new style of telling her Mother’s Country story and we were very lucky to see this style develop.

2023 has been another challenging year for tourism in Central Australia, but here in Alice Springs, we are still mostly seeing only the beauty of this region. The studio has been quiet for the start of 2023, but we are looking forward to ramping things up and seeing more stunning artworks being painted onsite in the coming weeks.
March saw the fabALICE Festival kick off the season, and a FABULOUS time was had by all! This festival is the first major event in Alice Springs and Yubu Napa is proud to support this wonderful festival. Follow fabALICE Festival on Facebook here to keep up to date on next year’s festival:
