Click the image above to be directed to the latest works by Patricia Baker Tunkin. Her latest pieces really are something spectacular, with her use of a bold warm palette and tiny networks of dots being used to tell her Minma Marlilu story. These works don’t last long in our gallery and have received much attention from our visitors in the last week or so.
Patricia Baker Tunkin’s mother, Kay, has been creating some extraordinary works with us over the last few weeks as well. Her style is quite different to that of Patricia, yet her works continue to capture the eye of art lovers worldwide. Her father, Jimmy Baker, was one of the original APY artists whose profile really only started to rise after painting for the first time in 2004. Kay and other female artists of her region had been instrumental in the formation of the Tjungu Palya art centre and have continued to work with major galleries and studios all around Central Australia.
A gallery legend in our eyes, Gwenda Turner Nungurrayi is constantly evolving and has always been working on telling her stories in different ways, yet continues to create some works that have helped boost her profile within the Indigenous art world. This year saw her Sand Dunes design being licenced by Vue at Nyer and these designs are available on homewares at the Myer website. CLICK HERE to browse the entire range. We personally love the plant pots, lamps and rugs.
Kathleen has moved in a new direction recently, and is currently working on a new range of Central Australian Landscapes. She approached other galleries, who were less than encouraging in their response to the new style. When we saw the first piece, we fell madly in love with it and knew we wanted more of these from one of Alice Springs most engaging artists. The depth and colour of these works are spectacular and the addition of wildlife to the painting give the viewer a true sense of the beauty around our region. There is one left at our website and we are eagerly awaiting more work from Kathleen and look forward to showcasing a new selection of landscape in the coming weeks.
POSTAGE:
Artworks will be sent around Australia Express Post, and usually arrive within 3 days from Alice Springs. Of course, the closer we get to Christmas, the longer it may take. To ensure delivery in Australia, we recommend ordering at least a week before Christmas. International orders will require customs clearance and should allow at least 2 weeks for delivery, however we cannot guarantee any time frame, so the earlier gifts are ordered, the sooner they will arrive.
